Pelagonia is the biggest valley in Macedonia. It genarally covers the south-west part of our country and has a meridian direction of extention. From all sides the valley is enclosed by mountains, on the north with Dautica, on the east with Nige and Selecka Mountains, on the west with Baba and Biseva Mountain and on the south is Greece. Pelagonia covers an area of 4000 kmē and its average height is 600m above sea level.

Predominantly, Pelagonia has moderate continental climate, but sometimes in the winter months cold spells from the north penetrate the valley and reduce the temperature giving place for the continental climate. The average rainfall is about 640mm.

River Crna flows through the valley with its tributaries: Blata, Semnica, Dragor and Jelaska.

Pelagonia is our biggest field with cereals.

The most common cereals grown are: grain, barley, corn, and the industrial plants: sunflower, tobbaco, sugar-beet etc. One of the most aromatic tobbaco in the world grows in the vicinity of Prilep.
