Demir Kapia Gorge
The gorge of Demir Kapia
belongs among the most beautiful gorges in Macedonia on River Vardar.
Placed on the utoka Bosava long 19,5 km near by the village Udovo.
Acording the length is the smallest of the gorges on River Vardar. gorge
Demir Kapia is a mountain gorge. On the east side are Setra and Mountain
Gradeska. on the west with Krastavec and Kozuf. At some places some sides
of the gorge are high upto 900m and on Karadak and Trnka Rid to 928m. The
gorge Demir Kapuia is constructed of mezozoic limestone age of jura and
chalk. The coulor of the limestone is grey to light blue and at the
enterance of the gorge almost verticaly rise above Vardar with a fall of
850. The gorge has an influence of the mediteranian climate.
- As a result of the climate there is a characteristic vegetation of this type of climate. Also there is diffrent kind of game such as: dear, rabbit, fox, marten, badger, wolf, partridge and so on. Besides all that in this part also lives the seat-fish which is the lardest fish and can get up to 100kgr. Casual and underground krastni shapes exist in the gorge. Has 13 caves by which well know is Bela Voda and Zmejovec. The gorge offers wide oportunities for tourism development, kayak on strong waters, bulding up hydroelectric power plant and so on.
