The fishery was a vital craft in the Ohrid region and one of the main sources of food. Some of the fishing methods are still in use (fishing baits, nets), however now the fishing is mainly directed at generating the fish offspring. The fishery is also typical for Lake Dojran. Namely, there they use cormorants to draw the fish into closed areas in order to facilitate the fishing. Unfortunately, today with the dying of Lake Dojran, also the fishery is dying out in that region.
