Monastery of St. Giorgi (George) Skoropomosnik
It is located at the Virginov hill, above the Serava river, near Skopje. According to a chrysobull, it was ruined in the second half of the XI century, and later reconstructed by Aleksij I Komnen. It was abandoned again, and once more reconstructed by King Milutin. It is believed that the original building was erected by Emperor Roman III Argir. among its donors were also the emperors Konstantin Tiha, Diogen, and Nikifor III Votaniat. It was probably demolished in the beginning of the Turkish subjugation. An attempt to determine its probable original location revealed the site of the present Sultan Murat mosque. There is also an interesting opinion rendered by Slavko Dimevski, according to which the monastery was built during the period of Tzar Samuel.
