Macedonia above 2000 m of altitude

In the highest areas of Macedonia, above 2,000 metres of altitude, the climatic conditions are completely different and are characterized by very short and brisk summers that last only for a month or two, and long, harsh, and snowy winters, with almost constant stormy winds. The vegetation is scarce, and the long-stemmed plants are rare. In Macedonia there are numerous summits, higher than 2,000 metres, which are a continuous challenge for climbers, alpinists, and mountain-lovers.
