The surroundings of St. Naum's Monastery

The monastery of St. Naum, dedicated to Archangel Michael, is located on the southern shore of Lake Ohrid. The original building was constructed by the educator St. Naum around 900 A.D. The Monastery is surrounded by magnificent forest whose shades mirror in the clear waters of the Drim river, with its springs at 700 metres distance from the Monastery. There the rivers also forms beautiful small lake whose permanent inhabitants, among other wildlife, are swans. The entire area is included in the scheme of complete protection within the framework of the Galichica National Park.
