This uprising was lead by Dimitar
Pop-Georgiev Berovski and his father-in-law Stojan from the village
of Razlovtsi. Berovski served in Russia and Belgrade and participated
in struggle against the Turks. He returned to his native place Berovo
where he worked as a teacher and where he was imprisoned because of
antifanaryotism. After his release, he went in Thessalonika where he
organized a rebel organization and together with his father-in-law,
the priest Stoyan, commenced an uprising in the mountain region of Maleshevo
and Piyanets. They began a rebellion in the v. of Razlovtsi. After a
few conflicts with the Turkish army, Berovski was wounded in the head
and he withdrew. The priest Stoyan committed a suicide in order to avoid
captivity.
