The Mother of God with Christ |
120 x 91 cm. Tempera. Plaster ground on board. From the church Archangel Michael to the Monastery of Gabriel of Lesnovo, Zletovo. Today - Museum of Macedonia, Skopje. Condition: The icon is severely damaged. The upper and lower parts of the frame and treasury are cut off. |
| Almost a third of the icon, where infant Christ is shown, is broken and lost. Apart from the condition when found, it was also seriously damaged during the disastrous earthquake in Skopje in 1963, when it was buried under the ruins of the IPCM. Iconography: The Mother of God is shown in half-length with the infant Christ in her arms. She points towards Him with her right hand. She is dressed in a maphorion with tiny hatching. The infant Christ is dressed in a hiton and himation, also with hatching. Conservation: Conserved and restored in IPCM – Skopje, transferred to a new wooden base.
