Jesus Christ the Great Archpriest |
14th century 19.5 x 15.5 cm. Tempera. Plaster ground on board. From the church St. Nicholas (Celnicko maalo), Ohrid. Today - at Icon Gallery, Ohrid. Condition: Only the central part of the triptych has survived; door panels lost at unknown date. The central wooden panel cracked vertically in two places. Small areas of the plaster ground and layer of paint have flaked off. |
| Iconography: Jesus Christ the Great Archpriest, portrayed in half-length. He gives a blessing with His right hand and in His left holds a thick open book. He is wearing a garment ornamented with crosses in square fields and vermilion bands, and a blue hiton, the same colour as the omophorion crossed over His chest. Golden background. The inscription written in vermilion on the gold background. Conservation: Cleaning and conservation carried out in the laboratory of IPC - Skopje.
