The Folk Costume of the Radovish Shopluk The Folk Costume of the villages in the slopes of the mountain Plackovitsa known as the Radovish Shopluk, are distinguishing in their clothing items and ornamentation. The shirt from the female costume is embellished with embroidered motifs influenced by the adjacent villages of the Radovish Plain popularly called the polsko vezmo. The upper clothing item is a striped patterned fabric composed of a tight upper sleeveless item and a loose ruffled lower item. A sash kemer is put around the waist and a woolen ornamented apron skutina skutach. The women wear two to three dresses one over the other which augments the width of the lower item, as well as a jube made of a black woolen fabric ornamented with braids of wool and glitter décor. This is also the bridal costume. Numerous beads compliment the female religious observance costume of this region. The male costume worn for religious observances besides the pants and shirt has a striped and patterned woolen vest, chakshiri made of a dark brown klashna, woolen motley socks supported by straps and lots of homemade cloths. Special details of this costume are the kalchinya leg pieces made of klashna ornamented with braids. |
