The Folk Costumes of the Mountain/Stockbreeders Population

The folk costumes of the mountain/stockbreeders population which include elements of the ancient Balkan stock breeders costume is distinct in the woolen clothing items, usually white rarely a natural dark color, with specific ornaments of dark or black braids. There are many male clothing items. The oldest of these are the lenena or konopna shirt, a loose white dolama made of klashna or a resachka, valanka, knee length kyurdia, as well as white tight chakshiri – bechvi or dzivri (pants). The stockbreeders costume made of a thick fabric – gunya, sakma, zogan with a cone and several types usually worn as a cape. Other clothing items wer worn as well such as short sleeved or sleeveles items, with ot without a fold on the breast item – gunyche, vest, jamadan, fermele, z'banche and a leather hat shubara.
