The Folk Costumes of Pijanec The mountain region Pijanec in the mining area Sasa, the female costume consists of simple clothing items in tranquil dark tones. The shirt, with an ogrlye on the breast, is covered with by the saya made of an entirely different fabric, design and ornamentation in comparison to the other regions of Western Macedonia. Here, the saya is long black upper clothing item with long sleeves that completely covers the shirt and is made of a woolen fabric. Applied braids and bikme on the breast and sleeves embellish these clothing items. A sash and apron skutina futa, futa litarka. A short sleeveless striped/patterned clothing item called jepalka is worn over the shirt of the male costume as well as poturi made of a woolen fabric whose footends are decorated with braids. An impressive sash is put around the waist. The shubara (hat) made of lambskin serves as head protection for the men of this region. |
