The Folk Costume of Malesia The female costume of the five villages of the mountainous region Malesia is abundant in clothing items, which are decorated in a different style to the neighboring regions. The most opulent and most ornamented clothing items are those of the bridal costume so-called golemi, as well as those of the first day after the wedding when the new bride goes to fetch water so-called pomali. It consists of a shirt sramachka embroidered on the sleeves, a vest anteria decorated with sedefki, a klashenik with glitter décor and a jube with braids. All these elements make up the costume of the Malesia region with its characteristic ethnic and esthetic features. The white color dominates the clothing item (white) belo jube applied in the fabric which is used and the braids it is decorated with. This whiteness of the clothing item jube is worn as a symbol of mourning . It is a reminiscence of an Ancient Slavonic tradition as part of the costume of this isolated region Malesia where mourning was expressed by wearing white clothes. |
