The Folk Costume of the Lerin River

The Lerin River region, where the population is known as the rekartsi, the female costume has been kept for a long time. It consists of a shirt with a white embroidery so-called azhuren on the bottom piece and multicolored sleeves, a shayak made of a white cotton fabric with embroidered and applied decorations, a sash and an apron (skutina-pregach). The resachka and vlasenik are a part of the costume made of a black cotton fabric klashna with fringes on the inside similar to the ones in the villages of Lower Prespa and Kostur and its vicinity.

The bridal costume is embellished with ornament kesitsi – embroidered items placed over the sleeves of the shayak, bulyka – a hat with a sharp end, dulben, kotsle (a small braid), prevrska as well as abundant jewelry made of metal and beads.
