The south Macedonian ethnic entirety

This group consists of the most southern regions of Macedonia – the Lerin Plain, The River Lerin, Kostur and vicinity, Voden and vicinity, Pazar and vicinity, the Salonika Plain, Boimia.

The Folk Costumes of this part of Macedonia show much variety with numerous clothing items and a melange of ornaments.

The male costumes of the South Macedonian ethnic entirety are simpler and have fewer distinguishing features. The basic components are: a white shirt with loose sleeves, pants, underwear dzivri , benevrezi, tight woven straps for below the knee – podveski , kyurdia – a sleeveless clthing item made of black klashna and a dolama – a winter clothing item with red shiriti.

The stockbreeders' clothes are made of trlagan, guna – made of wool and kozina with a loose conical neckpiece.

The analysis of some of the clothing items of the female religious observance costume and the male ritual costume shows distant traces of the anciant Balkan and Slavonic cultural tradition with the application of Byzatine and Oriental ornamentation.
