The Folk Costume of Babuna The region of Babuna, including Azot and Klepa, consist of several viillages along the river that carries the same name. The very simple female costume is made up of a shirt made of a white homemade fabric, a sash with many petterns called dzunitsa as well as the apron with simple rectilinear patterns. The winter clothing items consist of a kyurdia made of a black klashna with decorative braids. The male costume consists of a broad white knee-length shirt with a lot of ruffs on the lower end which falls over the pants and woolen underwear dzivri. A very sash is placed around the waist and there is a stripped vest on the upper part of the body with decorative shiriti and braids. The apron with black and white patterns if very characteristic of the male costume that, in the everyday costume is worn as a practical detail and in the religious observance costume is part of its ritual constituency. The kepare is a special part of the costume made of a thick woolen fabric which protects the shepherd from various climatic conditions. Folk people have a saying "the kepare is the house of any shepherd". |
