 Calendar of activities
- Workshop entitled "Financial literacy and debt management" will take place from 21st to 23rd of July 2010 in the GEM Club in Skopje's Old Bazaar.

The goal of the workshop is to provide basic knowledge on personal finance management for the participants, so they can adequately plan and manage their expenses, in order to prevent excessive indebtedness.

About the Foundation

George Soros

George Soros was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1930. In 1947 he immigrated to England, where he graduated from the London School of Economics and became familiar with the work of the philosopher Karl Popper. In 1956 Mr. Soros moved to the United States, where he established the International Investment Fund – the Quantum Group.

In 1979 Soros established his first foundation, the Open Society Fund, in New York, and in 1984 he established the first Foundation in Eastern Europe in Budapest. He now funds a network of foundations that operate in 31 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, as well as in South Africa, Haiti, Guatemala and the United States. This foundations aim at building and maintaining the infrastructure and institutions of an open society.

In addition to many published articles on political and economic changes in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, Mr. Soros is the author of: The Alchemy of Finance (1987), Opening the Soviet System (1990), Underwriting Democracy (1991), Soros on Soros: Staying Ahead of the Curve (1995), The Crisis of Global Capitalism (1998), The Bubble of American Supremacy (2004), and the most recent book, The Age of Fallibility (2006).

In recognition of his efforts to promote open societies throughout the world, Mr. Soros has received honorary doctoral degrees from the universities Yale and Oxford, the New School on Social Research and the Budapest University of Economics. George Soros was awarded with the Laurea Honoris Causa, the highest honor of the University of Bologna, Italy.
